Sućuraj is also an important port for the island of linked with the mainland by regular and frequent ferry-boat lines to Drvenik as well as with a direct bus line with Split (Stari Grad-Sućuraj-Makarska-Split on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Thanks to its geographical position it has always been an important historical strategic point.
Sućurje is surrounded by numerous picturesque inlets and sandy beaches that are easy to reach by boat. The development of tourism in Sućurje began in 1960 when its inhabitants abandoned the old crafts just long enough to take care of their houses and guests and then to come back and continue their work on the land and at sea, feeding their families and guests with home-made and home-grown delicacies.
