Mate Šimunović or as the locals call him “Mate Svjetski” (Mate Cosmopolitan) was one of the greatest adventurers of his time. He set out on a journey around the world in 1928. and over the course of 19 years, with his dog Globus, he travelled 360,000 kilometers on five continents by bicycle, on foot and by sailboat. On his journey, he visited 70 countries and reached numerous islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans. At the time, reputable newspapers such as the New York Times, La Prensa, and El Telegraf wrote about his travels. Mate kept a diary about his journey and took numerous photos
