Festival of the adventurer

One of the world’s greatest travellers, Mate Šimunović from Vrgorac, nicknamed Svjetski ( Cosmopolitan ) by the locals, travelled with his faithful companion, the dog Globus for 19 years. He travelled over 300,000 kilometers, visited over 70 countries and thousands of islands and islets. The Festival of the adventurer Mate Svjetski brings together travel enthusiasts and travel writers in one place. It is held in August and includes various adventure activities, lectures, documentaries and exhibitions. Every year one country which was visited by Mate Svjetski is presented to the audience through travelogues, gastronomy and culture
