Hvar Island Takes Spotlight in ABC’s The Bachelor
The island of Hvar has always had its place on television screens and has long been known as a desired filming location.
It couldn’t escape popular American television network ABC, either.
Namely, last summer in Hvar town, and precisely at Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort, the American reality show “The Bachelor” was filmed, which is shown in 30 countries around the world, writes Slobodna Dalmacija.
The episode was broadcast on Valentine’s Day on the American television company ABC. It showcased Hvar, which was named the best island in Europe by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler magazine, while the Amfora hotel hosted the reality stars for a full week, said Marzia Marti on behalf of Suncani Hvar.
In a few years, film tourism has become a new travel trend for many tourists who want to take photos or simply visit the locations of their favorite movies or TV series.
However, Croatia’s sunniest island was recognized as an international film location half a century ago, when the feature film “Depth” by the famous American director Orson Welles was shot on Hvar. “Odyssey” about the most famous underwater explorer, Jacques Cousteau, was filmed on Hvar, too. Much of the filming took place at locations in the town of Hvar, Jelsa, Stari Grad – Faros and the Pakleni Islands.
A few years ago, an advertisement for the fashion house “Jean Paul Gaultier” was shot on Hvar’s sunniest beach, which includes beautiful scenes from the Dubovica pebble beach and the popular Hvar promenade in the center of town.
The American reality show “WAGS Miami” – or wives of American athletes – was also filmed on the island. Filming took place all over Hvar, and at the hotels “Amfora” and “Adriana”. The episodes were shown on the program E! Entertainment, part of NBC Universal.
At the same time, the British reality show “Made in Chelsea” was filmed on Hvar, which included various island locations and served as an excellent advertisement that attracted young Britons to this desirable destination.
In September last year, the popular NetFlix culinary series “Somebody Feed Phil” was filmed at the Palace Elisabeth hotel and in Hvar town.
