It has been another bumper tourist season in Central Dalmatia, and we are not finished yet! The beaches are full, and towns such as Split are busier than ever.
One of the reasons for the increased tourism has been the gradual increase of direct routes to the region, which has enabled tourists from more than 100 destinations to fly directly into Central Dalmatia. And the numbers don’t lie…
In the first seven months of 2017, passenger traffic was up 12.2% at the main airport in Split, even more impressive when you consider that 2017 was a record year. Some1,176,134 passengers went through Split from January 1 to July 31, and that number is set to rise even further next year, with the scheduled opening of the new terminal at Split Airport in July 2019.
Special mention should also be made of the small airport on the island of Brac, which almost closed a couple of years ago, but which is now enjoying something of a renaissance and an extended runway. The first direct international flights took place last summer, and there are direct connections from no less than seven other countries in 2018, which has resulted in a very impressive 15.3% increase in passenger traffic, with 15,463 passengers taking the quicker route to this gorgeous island.
