22nd Split Marathon Returns on February 27!

The 22nd Split Marathon returns at the end of February, bringing 3,000 participants from 45 countries around the world to the Dalmatian capital. 

Split marathoner Kristijan Sindik, race director and a member of the Split Marathon organization since 2014 revealed what’s in store this year for Dalmacija Danas.

“After last year’s early fall edition, we are back to our regular term. The last Sunday in February is again a holiday for runners in Split and this part of Europe. We are also returning to the record numbers from 2020, with about 3,000 participants from 45 countries around the world. As of this year, the Split Marathon has entered the list of qualifying races for the Wanda Age Group World Championship, which is held in one of the six major world marathons (Tokyo Marathon, B.A.A. Boston Marathon, Virgin Money London Marathon, BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and TCS New York City Marathon), which certainly attract runners from all over the world. We are also growing in terms of quality and speed, so we have secured several elite participants who come from Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi, Rwanda, and Morocco,” Sindik said. 

The 22nd Split Marathon will again boast a marathon and relay marathon on an AIMS certified trail that goes around Split, Solin, and Vranjica (Little Venice). The event will also feature a half marathon on an AIMS certified track. The start and finish of all races are on the famous Split waterfront promenade (Riva), with several refreshment stations for runners along the way. All participants also receive a medal, with cash prizes for the absolute winner (top 5), cups for absolute winners (top 3), cash prizes for winners with HAS license (top 3), commodity Awards and medals for winners by category (top 3), and commodities & winners medals by relay category (Top 3).
