Poljički soparnik

Poljički soparnik

Soparnik in the past was a fasting meal that was prepared on fasting days, on Good Friday, Christmas Day and on the eve of All Saints’ Day. It was prepared for farm hands, to offer a guest and a friend whilst today Poljice inhabitants offer it on special occasions.

So, soparnik, zeljanik, became the sign and symbol of the old Poljice Republic. Soparnik is a simple meal prepared from ingredients available in every household: flour, chard, red onion, olive oil, garlic.
