In the 17th century, in Kaštel Lukšić,  young love between Miljenko and Dobrila, children of prominent nobles, from the quarrelling Vitturi and Rosani families, took place. The romantic love of these young people had no future thanks to the stubbornness of their fathers, so it ended tragically with Miljenko’s murder, and shortly afterwards with Dobrila’s death. Dobrila’s last wish was to be buried with Miljenko in the church of St John in Kaštel Lukšić which was however fulfilled so today a carved message “Eternal peace to lovers“ can be seenon their eternal resting place. An event known as the Days of Miljenko and Dobrila is held in Kaštel Lukšić every year in August, during which guests can enjoy a reenactment of this legend.
