Kaštel Gomilica – Downy oak

The Downy oak (Quercus pubescens Willd), which is approximately 700 years old, is situated next to the church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Kaštel Gomilica, attracting special attention with its beauty and size. The church preserves the relics of the Virgin Mary, Saints Cosmas and Damian and the Hungarian King Stephen. It is the oldest preserved church in this area and legends speak of numerous historical figures who over the centuries enjoyed its shade.
