Thanks to isolation from other watercourses, several endemic fish species have developed in the karst subterranean river that springs in Proložac and Glavina Donja, with a total length of 70 kilometres. The entire river ecosystem is extremely important for the biodiversity of the wider environment, but also very sensitive to external influences. Therefore, part of Vrljika was declared a special ichthyologic reserve. It is significant for many endemic species and a variety of fish species. Light rowing in a kayak or canoe down the Vrljika River is suitable for families with children.
