Dance of the Sails

The small fishing village of Vrboska has a proud heritage of fishing and shipbuilding. Traditional wooden boats with Latin sails are a special experience for both the locals and the visitors of the island of Hvar. The Lantina Association holds its annual summer regatta on St. Peter’s Day in Vrboska. During the summer months there are regular sailing demonstrations of the old boats, enlivened with music and light effects. The Dance of the Sails takes place on Thursdays in Jelsa and on Fridays in Vrboska, an event that delights everyone
