International New Year’s regatta ‘Laser Europa cup’ with the longest continuity in this class.

Zdenko Roić from Hvar came up with the idea that sailing can also be done in winter. He realized his plan in 1975 with the New Year’s regatta. Several clubs acquired new Laser type sailboats, and at the turn of 1975/1976, they sailed in the Laser class, windsurfing boards and in the Optimist class. At the time, many people were surprised that some unusual people were pulling sailboats to Hvar on their trailers through cold and snow-covered Europe. Few people believed that this regatta would become synonymous with Hvar and the Laser Europa Cup.
