Faros maraton
The Faros Marathon is a long-distance swimming competition held in the Stari Grad Bay since 1976, starting at New Kabel Cape. The first Faros Marathon winner was the legendary Veljko Rogošić, and in the years since the biggest in long-distance swimming have taken part in the Marathon.
The Faros Marathon grew from a small provincial competition to a world-class institution of long-distance swimming, and one of the most prestigious marathons in the world. Testament to this fact and the iconic status of the competition was confirmed in 2012, upon its introduction to the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, making Faros Marathon the first Croatian sports event to be a member of the Hall of Fame. This legendary manifestation takes place at the end of August/beginning of September and is accompanied by a series of entertainment events.
