Napoleon’s Road

French or Napoleon’s road on Biokovo above Brela is another attraction, according to many, the most beautiful mountain in Croatia. During French rule, at the beginning of the 19^th century, the French built a road in this area that was supposed to connect the whole of Dalmatia, from Obrovac to Boka Kotorska in Montenegro. In these parts, the road was supposed to connect the Makarska coast with the continental part of the road, that passed behind the Biokovo mountain, but the construction stopped, and the road remained unfinished. It was built in the serpentine form, and even today you can walk along its remains on the slopes of the mountain and admire the view of the islands and the coast
