840-Sweet Rogač

The sun and the scent of pine trees, the sea and the sound of waves lapping at the coast, beaches that beckon to explore and invite you to rest… In a magnificent bay, not far from the towns of the Split Riviera, is an island that is perfect for rest and relaxation. In addition to its gorgeous bays and clear sea, Šolta will delight you with its relaxed atmosphere, delicious gourmet offer and historical stories such as the one about Queen Teuta, the ruler of the former Illyrian state, who was also known as the Pirate Queen. Rogač, Šolta’s only harbour, is located in the centre of the northern side of the island. In the cove of the same name, you will find the beaches of Kašjun, Garme and Banja which are on the opposite side of the ferry pier. The discovered remains of a former ancient country villa will convince you that the beauty of this coast has always attracted visitors. Rogač is also the name of an evergreen Mediterranean tree with a thick crown and edible chocolate-coloured fruits (carob) whose shape resembles a pod. Cakes and bread are made from its sweet flour, and you must not leave Šolta before trying carob cake.
