6 – Explore Hyllis
This self-effacing Marina is located where fishermen weave their nets while stories from the past whisper in the shadows. Stop for a moment and let yourself be intrigued by the past of this area and enchanted by the simple beauty of local tradition. Following the strands of fishing nets, you will come across the most diverse parts of the colourful mosaic of this small place of undiscovered beauty. Your guiding star will be its Kaštil, the bishop’s tower built on a rock that was once connected to the Citadel by a drawbridge, thus forming a necessary medieval defensive building. Exploring the idyllic paths that take you along meticulously arranged dry stone walls, through centuries-old olive groves and symmetrically laid out vineyards from the sea shores to the gentle hinterland, you will discover views of poetic bays decorated with white boats, old pastures and charming little churches with their bell towers that will show you the way by cordially greeting you.

Technical characteristics
This relatively short 51.8 km trail includes 873 m of climbs with gentle ascents and one fast descent. The initial climb towards Sevid is 3 km long and has an average gradient of 5%, being ideal as a warm up. It is followed by a series of easy short climbs until that going towards Blizna Donja, which, being 7.5 km long with a 3.3% gradient, is the longest climb on the trail. The descent towards Gustirna is very fast with steep gradients reaching -19% at some points including one hairpin bend and a very narrow road, so it is important to pay special attention. The rest of the trail is on a wide road and has two lanes, without too much traffic. The trail is suitable for all cyclists who ride bikes regularly, but increased caution is required on the descent towards Gustirna. The highest point is at the 40th kilometre, 442 m above sea level. There is no need for compact crankset as the climbs present pleasant gradients with the steepest being the 200 metre-long segment with a 9.9% gradient.
