15-The trail of magnificent views
Seget Donji, a small place with a fishing tradition, was founded in 1564 as a refuge and buffer for the inhabitants of the Trogir hinterland before the Turkish invasion. The clerk of the city treasury, Jakov Rotondo, built Seget castle, which until the 17th century bore his name, Kaštel Rotondo. The rectangular medieval fortress was built according to the model of the magnificent Diocletian’s Palace, however its smaller version leaves no one indifferent. The centre of the castle is dominated by the baroque church of Our Lady of the Rosary, which was built in 1758. The church houses a 14th century Gothic, painted crucifix and a painted wooden triptych, the work of Blaž Jurjev Trogiranin. Three longitudinal and two transverse stone streets led through the castle, which today hide old stone houses and charming restaurants. The harmony of the architecture is visible especially from a height on the way to Seget Gornji, a place that developed in the 18th century thanks to the settlement of defectors from the Turkish army. Meanwhile, two altars dedicated to the Greek hero Heracles bear witness to the longer history of this area, which goes back to antiquity. And as if painted by an artist’s brush, the picturesque Seget Riviera captivates visitors today with the beauty of its landscape and long sandy beaches that are meticulously maintained.

Technical characteristics
After the beginning on the road, a fine macadam path will follow you along the steep start of the climb all the way to the cyclists resting point. After which, the climb continues for 1.5 km with slopes of over 20%. At the 6th kilometre, you can relax, because a flat section awaits you after the strenuous climb, followed by a path that rises slightly up to 375 metres above sea level. You can enjoy fine macadam and road segments throughout. The gentle descent towards Vrsine is as long as 4.6 km with a pleasant -6.6% slope opening up a number of views on the macadam surface. Due to the medium physical and lower technical demands, the trail is suitable for most cyclists on MTB, E-MTB, gravel and trekking bikes.
