1500-year-old olive tree
Its fruits are still full of oil, and it is more than 1500 years old. This exceptional monument of nature, a fifteen-hundred-year-old olive tree is located in the Maslina kindergarten courtyard in Kaštel Štafilić. The locals call it Mastrinka, and its seeds are assumed to have been brought from southern Italy or Greece in ancient times. It is a variety of oilseeds, with small leaves and fruits. Interestingly, the tree doesn’t have a main root, but an entire root system that has developed over an area of about a hundred metres. The girth of the trunk is six metres, the diameter of the crown is twenty-two metres, and its height is ten metres. It remains an enigma to the scientists and an inspiration for artists
