Ivana Grgić
Ivana Grgić was born in 1972 in Split, Croatia, and is a graduate engineer in graphic technology and design. In 2000 she was employed in Jutarnji List, a Croatian daily newspaper, in the photo section at the time, as a desk operator, and at the same time, she also worked on photo processing. She moved to the CROPIX photo agency, where she gained photographic knowledge and experience with fellow photojournalists, after which she started working as a photojournalist.
Since 2014, she has been engaged in diving, and since 2015, underwater photography. In the beginning, she took photos with a Compact camera, and soon after that, she switched to the DSLR category. During her time working in the field of underwater photography, she is also learning from foreign colleagues and top underwater photographers, especially at international competitions in which she has been participating for ten years.
She got excellent rankings at the Mares Underwater Photo Marathon with strong global competition, she won a silver medal at the Croatian National Competition, and also two Velebitska Degenija awards for the best journalistic works on nature and environmental protection for 2021 and 2022.
She also participated in several diving expeditions in the Red Sea and the Sea of Cortes (Mexico, Baja California Sur). She also participates in a large number of environmental clean-up actions in the undersea in an effort to raise awareness of sea pollution. Since 2021 after the death of her colleague Srđan Vrančić, she has taken over the leadership of the Scuba scanner diving project.
She is the mother of two daughters, Nika and Stela, she loves traveling in all forms, summer and warm weather, adores animals of all kinds, and her hobbies are mostly related to art.
