From the Heights into Silence
They say the view from above is always special. Only then do we truly see the beauty around us — the blue sea, green forests, rugged rocks dipping into the shore, and the playful shapes of the Dalmatian hinterland. In these scenes, we discover everything that makes Central Dalmatia unique: authenticity, diversity, and the power of nature that never ceases to amaze us.
These moments were captured by three well-known Croatian photographers — Zvonimir Barišin, Boris Kačan, and Davor Rostuhar. Their aerial photographs reveal the landscape from a completely new perspective. You’ll see white stone, dense pine forests, blue lakes, and historic towns — all those things we often take for granted but that take our breath away when seen from a bird’s eye view.
What makes this exhibition even more special is the place where it’s held. Located in the underground military tunnel Gatula on the island of Biševo — a calm, quiet place that leaves a strong impression on its own. And here, deep below the ground, scenes of heights and sky are displayed. This contrast — of light and shadow, openness and enclosure — adds an extra dimension to the experience.

This exhibition is not just an invitation to look, but to reflect. To slow down. To quietly admire the nature around us and remind ourselves how important it is to protect what we have.
On Biševo, an island where reality and silence meet beautifully, we invite you to enjoy every view and take with you a sense of connection — to nature, to this place, and to yourself.
We thank the artists who shared their vision with us, and all of you who came to see, feel, and experience it. We wish you a peaceful, inspiring, and memorable stay.
