Race «Uvati ćuvitu» on island Šolta

The island of Šolta, known for its untouched nature, rich history, and authentic Dalmatian spirit, is becoming a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts. This hidden gem of the Adriatic is just an hour’s ferry ride from Split but offers the feeling of a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

On October 19, 2024, Šolta will host a unique trail race, «Uvati ćuvitu,» offering participants the chance to explore the island’s most beautiful spots. The race is named after «ćuvita,» the little owl, a local symbol of the island, whose distinct call can be heard everywhere.

Participants can choose from four different trail distances, suitable for all levels of fitness:

 Recreational Trail (6 km, +126 m): Perfect for beginners and those looking for a
leisurely walk or run. This route leads through historical parts of the island, including
abandoned military structures on Vela Straža and the picturesque St. Michael’s
Church.

 Small Trail (11 km, +330 m): Suitable for those with some experience. This trail
passes through small Šolta villages and coves, offering unforgettable views of the
coast and the island’s interior.

Medium Trail (17 km, +460 m): A combination of two shorter trails, providing a
challenge for advanced runners who want to explore the island more thoroughly.

 Large Trail (22 km, +625 m): Designed for experienced runners, this trail includes
all three «petals» of the flower, connecting the southern and northern parts of the
island. With technically challenging sections, runners will pass through dry-stone
walls and abandoned olive groves, alongside fascinating «bunje» – stone shelters that
once served as refuges.

The start and finish of all races are in Grohote, the island’s center.
