Zvonimir Barišin is a passionate photographer from Croatia whose love for photography dates back to early childhood. Even as a young boy, he would always carry a camera on family trips, capturing panoramas and interesting details. Although he completed elementary music school, his true passion was photography, which led him to enroll in the Natko Nodilo Vocational School, specializing in photography, where he gained his first hands-on experience.

He began his career in photojournalism in 1997, when he accidentally had his first photograph published in Slobodna Dalmacija. At the time, the process of taking photographs was significantly more demanding than it is today, which further shaped his professional path. Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous media outlets, including Hrvatska vodoprivreda, Meridijani, and Sportske novosti, and expanded his reach internationally through work with Reader’s Digest and the Cropix photo agency. Since 2023, he has been a regular contributor to the Pixsell agency.

His striking lightning photography has been featured in renowned international media such as the UK’s The Sun and The Daily Telegraph, the US’s The Huffington Post, and popular platforms like The Daily Mail and 9GAG. He has worked with many global news agencies, including Reuters, Xinhua, National Geographic, Getty Images, and Tanjug.

Barišin is known for his specialization in photojournalism and wedding photography, and he is considered one of the most sought-after photographers in the region in these fields.

A significant part of his career is his membership in the Crometeo association, where he found a community of like-minded individuals passionate about storm chasing and extreme weather. His love for photographing lightning has brought him many friendships and accolades, while also demanding great patience and exposure to severe weather conditions.
