Boris Kačan

Boris Kačan was born in 1975 in Sydney, Australia. In 1980, he returned to Croatia with his parents, where he completed both primary and secondary technical school in Zadar. He earned his degree in electrical engineering in Zagreb and now lives and works in Zadar – a place he considers his personal oasis, surrounded by the sea, islands, and mountains.

He began his journey in photography about twenty years ago. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a profession and lifelong calling. To date, he has published around twenty monographs and travel guides on Croatia, hundreds of calendars, and thousands of postcards showcasing the country’s beauty. He also collaborates with numerous European publishers. Boris has participated in about thirty exhibitions, both solo and group, with a standout being Maritime Cartography, a collaboration with the Hydrographic Institute featuring all Croatian islands and reefs.

His inspiration comes from the exceptional beauty of the Adriatic and the Mediterranean, regions that offer an endless source of photographic motifs. A passionate lover of the sea, mountains, and all forms of weather, he finds his greatest support in his family – his wife Katarina and their children Nina and Ante. His photographic work can be explored further on his official website: www.kacan.com
