Podstrana

Podstrana

The old Illyrian Delmati tribe were the first to settle in this area followed by the Romans who founded Pituntium. The Podstrana we know today rose up from Stara Podstrana and consists of the villages of Strožanac, Grljevac, Sv.Martin and Mutogras. Bathed with sunshine and the sea, with numerous delightful hotels and apartments, and an unbroken chain of beaches, the flavours of the Mediterranean and aromatic herbs, Podstrana has become a real tourist pearl. Besides being a natural treasure, Podstrana preserves numerous important historical monuments like the church of St. George over the village with its cemetery, the statue of St. Anthony of Padua from the 18th century, the castle of Cindro and many others.
