In the period between the 12th and - 14thcenturies, Kaštil Slanica was a fortification for the Omiš pirates. Following the arrival of the Ottomans in this area, it becomes a salt trading place between Omiš inhabitants and the Turks to which owns its current name - Slanica (slan - salted). Today, a restaurant has been built on the ruins of the former market situated in the unique Cetina canyon.
