Komiža - The Pope’s visit

Komiža was the first place that the Pope visited in Croatia. In 1177 a ship transporting Pope Alexander III was overtaken by a storm, and it harboured on Palagruža, from where the fishermen transported him to Komiža. The Pope visited the St Nicholas Church.
