Jelsa - The Church of St Roch

The church of St Roch was built in the second part of the 16th century, and has been annexed and reconstructed numerous times and today its Gothic and Romanesque elements area clearly visible .
The altar painting represents Our Lady under the clouds and on the right side is St Ante Padovanski carrying the naked child in his arms, St Roch is kneeling deep in thought with a dog close to his legs that is looking up at him. This is believed to be the work of Jacobus Palma (1544 - 1628.).
