SOPARNIK – THE SIMPLICITY OF ANCIENT TIMES

Soparnik, a specialty from the Dalmatian Poljica, is a delicacy protected by geographical origin, and dates from the time of the Ottoman Empire. A simple dish made from a little spinach, green onions and parsley, sandwiched between two layers of the simplest dough. For its preparation you need two round wooden boards or sinije, a roller for rolling and a fire in the fireplace. On this tour you will see the preparation of soparnik from the very beginning, from the flour. You will learn about the old way of producing flour, with the help of the mill and water. After visiting the mill, you will go to Klis, to learn about the importance of sopranik and how it was originally prepared, with our chef in the indigenous setting of typical Dalmatian village. You will feel this dish with all your senses, a dish which, despite its simplicity, says so much about the life and culture of the ancient inhabitants of the Poljička Republic.
