MATE SVJETSKI
This is an adventurous route which follows in the footsteps of one of the biggest globetrotters of all time – Mate Svjetski – a guy from Vrgorac who, at the beginning of the 20th century and after 19 years of continuous journey all over the world solo, travelled more than 360,000km on five continents. This track is extremely difficult and is 51km long, taking you from Vrgorac, Prapatnica and Mate’s birthplace – Stilja – where he started his world adventure from. Take a look at one of the biggest collections of stone monuments. After a steep ascent, breathe in some fresh mountain air at Milina vantage point, which, at 920m, offers a wonderful view over Modro and Crveno lakes in Imotski. Congratulate yourself on the completed 19km long steep ascent and award yourself 30km of a picturesque downhill ride through cultivated valleys, glades of Kozička Poljica and wonderful vistas of the hills Šibenik and Mihovil. Once you’ve passed the village Kozica, the route merges with the old Napoleon road – this means you’ve circled around the mountainous part of Vrgorac area and reached the city again.
