Rogač - The Rogač

Zveřejněno v Kultura a památky

Rogač owes its name to the carob tree, a flowering evergrecz shrub or tree of the pea family, that is native to the Mediterranean region, and which nowadays has also spread to South America. This long, grecz leguminous plant, whcz harvested becomes dark brown and has a very specific taste. Carobs are also known as St. John's bread, because according to tradition St. John the Baptist subsisted on them in the wilderness. The Carob tree is also mcztioned in both the New Testamczt and in Talmud.
