SECOND 5-STAR HOTEL OPENS ON HVAR: MEET MASLINA RESORT IN STARI GRAD

2020 may not have been the best year for global tourism, but that did not stop the rise in quality of the tourism offer of the island of Hvar.    After the opening of the first 5-star hotel on Hvar last year – Palace Elisabeth in Hvar Town – not even the coronavirus could prevent the opening of the second 5-star hotel on the island, located in idyllic Maslinica Bay a short walk from the Stari Grad ferry terminal.    With a slogan of Mindful Luxury, the 53-room Maslina Resort (a combination of rooms, suites and villas) has a major focus on sustainable living and embracing local products and touches at every turn.    Marvel at the massive piece of Brac stone which comprises the hotel desk (all 15 tons of it), then visit the special Maslina Mediterranean garden, whose herbs and spices will find their way into your food, cocktails and spa therapies.    The focus on the cuisine is distinctly Mediterranean with a modern interpretation, with all ingredients organic and sourced from the region.    Great care has been taken to protect the surrounding nature, and the impressive olive trees (Maslina means ‘olive’ in Croatian) are a testament to the strong bond with local nature.    And if you like a good sunset, there are few finer places to be on the Adriatic coast than sipping one of the signature cocktails enjoying the view, perhaps from the comfort of the hotel infinity pool.   International media reaction to the new arrival, which is already a member of exclusive Relais & Chateaux, has been extremely positive, and the stage is set for a busy 2021 for this new luxury arrival in Central Dalmatia.    To learn more about the town of Stari Grad, click here.
