Seasonal Tourist Train from Osijek to Split Announced

From July 1 this year, a direct railway line from Osijek to Split will be introduced, which will run once a day on the Osijek-Virovitica-Bjelovar-Zagreb-Split route.

The train will depart from Osijek at 8 pm, arrive in Bjelovar at 11:35 pm, and at the final destination in Split at 8:42 am. The return from Split is planned daily at 10:06 pm.

This news especially delighted the people of Bjelovar, who will be able to travel directly by train to the Adriatic for the first time.

“We are extremely satisfied with the agreement reached with HŽ Passenger transport and we consider it important progress in connecting Bjelovar with other parts of Croatia,” said Bjelovar-Bilogora County Prefect Marko Marušić, emphasizing that negotiations with HŽ on this line began this fall.

The direct railway line that will connect Osijek and Split should run until August 27, and children and students of primary and secondary schools will be able to travel for free, according to the Government Conclusion on the pilot project of free public rail transport in force until the end of this year, which was published on the Bjelovar-Bilogora County website.

This pilot project includes unlimited daily train journeys from the place of residence to school, day trips, doctor trips, vacations, and other trips in the 2nd class of regular trains.
