Incredible September at Split Airport with Over 300,000 Travelers!

It was a standout September at Split Airport, with 328,886 passengers, or 253 thousand more than in 2020! To put things into perspective, this is only 141 thousand fewer passengers than the record-breaking September 2019, reports Croatian Aviation.

Split will be the champion in the number of transported passengers in Croatia this year, overtaking the former champion Zagreb. Zagreb Airport, for example, had just over 191,000 passengers in September this year, almost 4,000 fewer passengers than in August. However, this is still 125,000 more passengers than in September 2020, and 159,000 fewer passengers compared to the same month in 2019.

Although the number of passengers is much higher in Zagreb than in September last year, a significant increase in the number of passengers was expected last month, solely because Ryanair introduced several international destinations this year to 15 international destinations.

From January to the end of September, Split Airport welcomed and dispatched 1,363,413 passengers, which Zagreb is unlikely to achieve in the whole of 2021. And given the number of weekly operations and available lines, a significant number of passengers in Split is expected in October, too.
Finally, at the end of the year, Split Airport will deservedly take the title of the busiest Croatian airport!

By the end of 2021, Split will likely accept and dispatch over 1.5 million passengers, which is less than in 2019, when there were 3.3 million. However, given the pandemic and uncertainty of the last year, Split is on the right path to recovery and should pass 2 million passengers again next year!
