A Bumper Weekend: 70,000 Ferry Passengers in Split

Summer is officially here, and the tourists are coming! Central Dalmatia’s gorgeous quarter of islands – Brac, Hvar, Solta and Vis – are all ready for a new summer season, and this weekend has seen things get a little busy! With two public holidays on Friday June 22 and Monday June 25, many took it as the ideal time to travel, in addition to many others coming after the end of school. The result?

“The traffic has increased because of the holiday weekend. Over these four days, we expect about 70,000 passengers through Split’s ferry port and about 13,000 vehicles. Regardless of the great pressure on the harbour, we are reacting according to our resources and capabilities. I can say that the crowd is standard for this time of the year,” commented Jelena Ivulić, head of sales for Jadrolinija.
