Dalmatia Wine Tourism: Journalists from 18 Countries to Visit Brac, Hvar and Imotski

 

Of all the wealth of tourism opportunity which exists in Dalmatia, the sector of wine tourism in one which has great potential and has been very underdeveloped.

Currently there is no organised Wine Road of Dalamtia, one of the few regions of Croatia where this is not the case, despite Dalmatia having some of its finest wines.

A major international press trip of 30 wine journalists from an impressive 18 countries will descend upon Dalmatia starting this evening, with Imotski one of three key destinations, in addition to the islands of Hvar and Brac.

The journalists, who come from Germany, Poland, Austria, Finland, Switzerland, Hungary, Russia, Spain, Luxemburg, UK, Israel, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Serbia, Denmark, Macedonia and Indonesia, in addition to Croatia, are in Croatia for a week as part of the Zagreb VinoCom fair which starts at the end of the week. Full itinerary below, and an excellent chance to showcase the wines of inland Dalmatia to an international audience.

MONDAY, 24.11.2014.

11,00 o’clock – visit the Stina-vina wine cellar in Bol

17,10 o’clock – departure by boat from Bol to Jelsa, on the island of Hvar

18,30 o’clock – Association Hvar Otok Vina (Hvar – the island of Wine) – presentation, and the tasting of the wines from the Hvar producers: Bastijana Tomić, PZ Svirče, Ivo Carić, Tonči Marjan, Ivo Duboković, Vujnović family

8,30 o’clock – short visit of Vrboska and, after, breakfast at the winery Pinjata

10,00 o’clock – departure to see the best island vinegrowing positions, the south southwestern slopes named Hvarske plaže , single vineyard Ivan Dolac

11,30 o’clock – visit to the winery Zlatan Otok Zlatan Plenković at the village of Sveta Nedjelja (Santa Domenica)

12,30 o’clock – departure from the Plenković winery to Svirče

13,00 o’clock – short stop at Vrisnik: panorama view

13,30 o’clock – short visit to the winery PZ Svirče (cooperative) and lunch in the frame of this winery

All the time on the island of Hvar present with us are the licenced tourist guides Siniša Matković Mikulčić and Ivana Krstulović Carić

15,30 o’clock – departure to Vrboska to take the luggage

10,30 o’clock – arrival to the winery Grabovac

Visit of the cellar

Sparkling wine, with apetizers (local food)

11,00 o’clock – departure to the Imota winery

11,15 o’clock – Mozaik room, winery Imota

Guided tasting of the wines made by producers from the Imotski area: Grabovac, Jerković, Imota, Šimunović, Sušić, Glavota… There are going to be present also some local garage wineries

13,30 o’clock – lunch at the Zdilar hotel

14,30 – 15,00 o’clock – departure by bus to Zagreb

17,00 – 17,30 o’clock – Stop on the half way to Zagreba, at Skradin, by the wine producer Alen Bibić (tasting some local specialities like Skradin risotto, and the Bibich wines)

Arrival to Zagreb in the late hours, the plan is to reach the Esplanade hotel before midnight.
