The Charter of Povlja is the title deed of the Benedictine monastery of St John the Baptist in Povlja on the island of Brač, which was written on a parchment sheet in Croatian Cyrillic (the so called Bosančica) on 1st December 1250. Today it is kept at the Pučišća Parish Office on Brač where it arrived as part of the archives of the Povlja monastery. It is one of the oldest Croatian linguistic and cultural-historical monuments whose contents provide an insight into a variety of aspects of life in the area and the time it was created.
