The river Jadro springs at the foot of Mount Mosor. With its 4.5 kilometre long flow, it is one of the shorter rivers, and supplies water to a large urban area from Split to Trogir. Since ancient times, the old Salona and Diocletian’s Palace received water from the Jadro river whilst the source and upper flow of the river Jadro have been protected as a special ichthyologic reserve. An endemic subgroup of softmouth trout has also developed here, which can only be found in this area and is therefore of great value.
