The long history of wine production on the island of Hvar dates back to times when the ancient Greek settlers planted the first vines here. Even today, Hvar inhabitants, accustomed to modest living and hard work in the fields, refresh themselves with labourers’ drinks (a combination of red wine and still water) of wine and rainwater which the island’s winemakers keep in their taverns. Hvar wines, from vineyards grown on steep slopes facing the sun all over the island, have great character, so it is best to enjoy them in the place from where they originated and in the company of those who live there. When you come to the island, you can enjoy the superbly nurtured and ecologically grown island Bogdanuša and the even more famous Plavac wines in the cellars of many internationally renowned Hvar winemakers,.
