Hardly anywhere in the world will you find drinkable water of such quality and taste as is the water with which the river Jadro supplies Split, its surroundings and islands. Diocletian’s water supply is one of the few that is still in operation since its inception, 1700 years ago so it is still supplying water to Split inhabitants today. The waterworks start at the source of the river Jadro, which is extremely rich in high quality water of maximum purity, and is more than nine kilometres long.
