The official site of the Tourist Board Split-Dalmatia County

Thanks to its distinctive appearance, it is probably one of the most famous breeds in the world and was named after the region of Dalmatia and the Illyrian tribe Delmati (Lat. Dalmati) who inhabited today’s Central Dalmatia. This smart, active dog breed known for its white coat marked with characteristic black spots, is cheerful and playful, loyal, loving company. So don’t miss a visit to the Franciscan monastery in the Zaostrog Gallery and see a Dalmatian painted alongside the apostles and Jesus in a painting with the motif “The Last Supper” by an unknown 18th century artist.
