The ground floor of the Gospina batarija fortress (Our Lady’s Fortress) in Vis, hosts hydroarchaeological material found in the waters of Vis. The collection represents the largest collection of items from the Hellenistic period in Croatia whilst all of them were found in the area of ancient Issa and its necropolises. Issa was once the oldest Greek colony on the Adriatic. A particularly attractive exhibit are various types of amphorae which evidence the importance of Issa (Vis) as a trading destination as well as the importance of its port.
