The Stari Grad field on the island of Hvar, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, represents the best preserved ancient Greek landscape in the Mediterranean. Grape and olive crops were grown here even as far back as 2,400 years ago. This field is a cultural landscape that has been preserved with the proper division of land into plots carried out by Greek colonisers. Each plot is surrounded by a dry-stone wall whilst the field itself is intersected by roads in regular longitudinal and transverse directions.
