The Varnjača cave is located at the foot of Mount Mosor and is one of the most important geomorphologic monuments of the region. Asphalt and macadam roads lead right up to the cave’s entrance. In 1929 the cave was opened to visitors and since then has attracted many excursionists. Over the years of research it has been revealed that the cave was once inhabited by Neolithic man, a theory supported by the presence of earthenware objects and bone fragments found in the cave. A new species of cave spider and rich fauna are part of this ornamental cave full of cave decorations and stalactites. This region is not only attractive for its beautiful natural surroundings, but also for its organised excursion sites and the dense pine-woods.
