Brač inhabitants have a long tradition of olive-growing.  This island is proud of being, during the history, among the best Dalmatian areas in olive-growing and olive oil production. At the end of 17th century, Brač had around 500 000 olive trees giving 800 carriage of oil. Today's production of the extra-virgin olive oil on Brač is greater than ever in history.
