Rituals on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday have been celebrated for 500 years in a particular way on the island of Hvar. A procession takes place simultaneouslyin six villages on Hvar: Jelsa, Pitve, Vrisnik, Svirče, Vrbanje and Vrboska and attracts numerous believers from outside the island.
