Jadro River

The Jadro is a typical karst river of a short course but with abundant water thanks to which it supplies Split, Kaštela and Trogir with this precious commodity. It flows into the sea and has no contact with any other water flow. Such isolation is favourable for the creation of endemic species so in Jadro we can find the soft mouthed trout whilst along the coast a rare swamp cypress grows. Jadro provides an excellent backdrop for any hiker particularly if the route starts in Solin towards the river spring, through the parks and later along the hiking paths. Thanks to its importance and events from Old Croatian history, it is also known as the Croatian Jordan.
