The island is known for the carob tree that grows all over Šolta, and which is a common ingredient in Šolta’s gastronomy.
Carob liquor is a local speciality from Šolta - carob is mixed with lemon peel, oranges, vanilla and a few coffee beans in a shot of good grappa.
