History of this small village reaches to the Roman times about which testimonies founded sarcophagus. Igrane are well known for their ancient olive-orchards, situated above the village, near the church of the St. Michael. At the other side of Biokovo, at the northern part, there is a village Gornje Igrane, the first residence from where inhabitants gradually migrated toward the coast, cultivating in the same time olive-orchards and vineyards and fishing. Today, Igrane as well as other villages of the Riviera of Makarska, are tourist village, but still taking care about their olive-orchards, cultivate them and give to their descendants as inheritance.
