Under the mountain Biokovo is situated Gradac, the most southern tourist village of the Riviera of Makarska. The history of Gradac take us back to the Bronze and Old Iron Age, ancient times and period when here was the Roman centre Biston. Gradac inhabitants activities were fishing and olive-growing but at the beginning of the 20th century they initiate to recognize tourism as a new activity. A conjunction of the mountain and the sea, warm sun and clear sea are an excellent receipt of a good tourist offer. Gornja vala is, for example, the tourist symbol of Gradac. The most beautiful beach of the Makarska littoral is ideal for long walks and the whole-day lying around on the sun. Here can also be found the valuable sightseeing as the church of St. Michael built in the baroque style and Kamena kula (Stone tower) from the 17th century.
