Dalmatian village Grohote

Grohote is the oldest and largest village on the island of Šolta. It is located in the middle of the island, on the north-eastern edge of the Sridnje polje and is the natural and business centre. Grohote is famous for its naïve painters (Eugen Buktenica, Dinko Sule, Marin Kalajzić). The inhabitants of Grohote work in agriculture, maritime affairs and up until recently, with the production of Šolta’s lime.
